Anthony Lansdell, a 60-year-old former solicitor specializing in personal injury cases, hailing from the Birmingham suburb of Selly Park, has been found guilty of a prolonged and violent campaign of domestic abuse against his partner, Gail Birch. The conviction follows a series of disturbing incidents that spanned over five years, during which Lansdell subjected Miss Birch to repeated physical and emotional violence.

Throughout their tumultuous relationship, Lansdell was documented to have assaulted Miss Birch on more than twenty occasions. The court proceedings revealed that his primary motive for these assaults was to quell disagreements, as he admitted to slapping her multiple times with the explicit intention of stopping arguments.
