BRIDGWATER PAEDOPHILE ANTHONY DANIELLS SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS

In a case that has shocked the community of Bridgwater, 73-year-old Anthony Daniells from Spillers Close was convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving two young girls.

The charges, which date back to December 2000, include five counts of indecent assault and one charge of inciting or causing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.

These heinous acts were committed against victims who were between four and six years old at the time, with one of the girls described by prosecutor Tara Wolfe as being particularly vulnerable.

The trial, which concluded on December 23, resulted in Daniells being found guilty of all charges.

During the court proceedings at Taunton Crown Court, Daniells appeared before Judge David Ticehurst and maintained a stance of denial, protesting, “I didn’t do nothing.” Despite his protests, the evidence presented was compelling enough to secure a conviction.

Judge Ticehurst addressed Daniells directly, stating, “You are 73-years-old, and until your conviction, you were a man of good character.

But behind the facade, you hid a dark secret.

Over a number of years, you abused and sexually assaulted two young girls.

You did this deliberately, for your own, perverted pleasure, and you made them relive their ordeal in front of a jury.” The judge further condemned Daniells for his continued denial of guilt, emphasizing that he showed no remorse for his actions.

He also highlighted the impact on Daniells’ family, noting, “The fact that your wife and family will suffer is entirely down to you, and your actions.” As a result of his convictions, Anthony Daniells was sentenced to a total of ten years in prison.

Additionally, he was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and was ordered to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
