ABERDEEN MAN SENTENCED FOR FLAT VANDALISM AFTER RAGE BREAKUP
A jealous man named Angus Duncan, aged 20, caused approximately £1,300 worth of damage when he trashed his ex-partner’s flat in Aberdeen after discovering she was with his brother.Duncan was reported to have lost control and gone into a "blackout rage" upon finding her in their shared flat.
During the incident, he slashed her clothes and headboard, damaged her TV, and smashed an oven door.
The woman, who had been separated from Duncan since May after approximately three and a half years of relationship, initially returned to her flat and found Duncan lying in her bed.
When she challenged him, he became irate, calling her offensive names and recording the encounter on her mobile phone.
Later, Duncan returned to the flat and, after an argument with the woman, left.
The next day, the woman returned and found Duncan inside, having damaged the oven, scratched the TV units, pulled and slashed her clothing, and caused damage to her headboard and TV screen.
The total damage was valued at £1,300.
Duncan was later traced by police at Kittybrewster station, where he admitted to destroying property because of his "blackout rage." He pleaded guilty to charges of threatening behavior and vandalism.
His solicitor explained that Duncan, who lives with his mother in Banff, was still not accepting that the relationship was over and that his father had recently passed away in May.
The court ordered Duncan to pay £600 in compensation to his ex, imposed a six-month supervision order, and issued a two-year non-harassment order.
