HERTFORDSHIRE POLICE OFFICER DISQUALIFIED FROM DUTY AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON WOMEN
An officer named PC Andrew Wild was involved in a series of sexual assaults on three women during a night out at Osinsky's Bar & Grill in Hitchin's Market Place on March 30, 2022.The incidents included Wild smacking one woman on the bottom as she was bending over a pool table, grabbing another woman's bottom on the stairs in the pub, and smacking a third victim again on the bottom as they walked to Hitchin Train Station.
Wild, who initially was assigned to respond to victims of sexual assault, was convicted of three counts of sexual assault by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on May 22 this year.
Following his conviction, Hertfordshire Constabulary held a misconduct hearing and decided to ban him from policing.
Chief Constable Charlie Hall stated, "It is very serious that PC Wild has a criminal conviction for sexual assault as a result of his behaviour towards three females," emphasizing that policing is meant to protect women and investigate crimes, not perpetrate them.
The conviction undermines public confidence in policing, and to demonstrate that such behaviour is unacceptable, Wild has been dismissed from the police service without notice.
His name will be added to the College of Policing barred list, and he was bailed ahead of sentencing scheduled for September 2.
