Fleetwood Cleveleys Sexual Abuser
In a serious case that has shocked the communities of Cleveleys and Fleetwood, Andrew Shaw, a 44-year-old man, was brought before Preston Crown Court to face charges related to the possession of indecent images of children. The case emerged after police investigations revealed disturbing evidence found at Shaw’s residence on Derby Road, Cleveleys, which included a significant collection of illicit material involving minors.

Authorities acted swiftly following a tip-off that Shaw’s home was being used to download and store indecent images. During a search, law enforcement officers seized multiple electronic devices and uncovered a total of 72 images categorized by severity: 12 images classified as Category A, the most serious, nine at Category B, and 51 at Category C. These images depicted children aged between three and 12 years old, some of whom appeared to be in distress while being sexually abused by adults. One particularly disturbing image also involved an animal and a child, raising additional concerns about Shaw’s intentions and behavior.

Shaw, who was visibly aided by his cane as he stood in the dock, admitted to the offences immediately when questioned by police. He claimed he “didn’t know why he had them,” showing a lack of remorse or understanding of the severity of his actions. The court was told that Shaw’s residence was on Derby Road, in the town of Cleveleys, which is part of the larger Fleetwood area.

In sentencing, Judge Alan Conrad QC issued a six-month jail term, but this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning Shaw would not serve time unless he committed further offences within that period. The judge issued a stern warning, stating, “If you come back before this court again for similar offences you will be going to prison.”

Beyond the criminal conviction, Shaw faces additional restrictions. He is required to sign the Sex Offender’s Register for a period of seven years and has been subjected to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. Furthermore, he must participate in a 60-day rehabilitation activity aimed at addressing his offending behavior.

In a related and troubling development, a charity has announced plans to revoke Shaw’s guide dog, which he relies on for mobility. The charity, Guide Dogs, expressed fears that Shaw might use the animal to attract or groom children in the future. They have stated that the guide dog will be taken away within four weeks, citing concerns that the animal could be exploited as part of Shaw’s manipulative tactics to lure young people, should he choose to do so again.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of children and the importance of vigilance in communities like Cleveleys and Fleetwood, where residents are now wary of the potential dangers posed by individuals with a history of such offences.
