ANDREW LEWIS CRANBROOK SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS FOR DECADE-LONG ABUSE
In a case that has shocked the Cranbrook community, Andrew Lewis, a 53-year-old man residing on Turner Avenue, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of a series of heinous sexual offenses committed over nearly ten years.The crimes, which involved the abuse and rape of a young child, spanned from June 2007 to November 2016, with the victim coming forward to report the incidents to authorities in March 2017.
Following the report, police in Kent launched an investigation into the allegations.
Lewis was promptly arrested and taken into custody.
During police interviews, he maintained his innocence, dismissing the victim’s claims as “a fantasy,” despite the mounting evidence against him.
His denial did little to sway the case, which proceeded to trial at Maidstone Crown Court.
At the court hearing, Lewis faced multiple charges, including two counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault of a child, two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and three additional child sex offenses.
Throughout the proceedings, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
However, after a jury deliberated, Lewis was convicted on all counts, confirming the severity of his crimes.
The judge sentenced Lewis to 21 years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the prolonged period over which they occurred.
Additionally, upon his release, he will be subject to an extended license period of five years, ensuring continued supervision.
As part of his punishment, Lewis was also placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and was issued a restraining order, which prohibits him from contacting the victim or approaching certain locations in and around Cranbrook.
The sentencing underscores the justice system’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and holding offenders accountable for their actions.
