WENVOE NURSE ANDREW LAUDER DISBARRED AFTER SEX ASSAULT CONVICTION
A nurse who was previously convicted of sexual offenses has been formally removed from the nursing register.Andrew Lauder, 55, from Wenvoe, Vale of Glamorgan, was disbarred after being found guilty of groping women and manhandling them during his work.
The Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) hearing revealed that Lauder was jailed last year for seven counts of sexual assault.
The panel expressed concerns that there was a risk he might replicate his behaviour upon his release.
Lauder's history includes a conviction in September 2017 for sexually assaulting four women and making "lewd and crude comments".
During his trial at Cardiff Crown Court, prosecutor Nicholas Gareth Jones described his behaviour as impossible to resist and inappropriate, stating, "He just simply cannot keep his hands to himself.
He cannot resist groping other women." Jones characterized the behaviour as "crude and unacceptable in this day and age." The NMC panel's chairwoman, Deborah Jones, stated "The panel has seen no evidence of remediation or insight".
Additionally, Lauder continued to deny his guilt, claiming, "whilst I have no option but to accept the outcome of the case of the guilty verdict passed, I maintain my innocence of the charges." The panel concluded that there is a risk of repetition, leading to Lauder being struck off the register.
