OFFENDER JAILED FOR ATTEMPTING TO KIDNAP THREE GIRLS AND DISTURBING VEHICLE DISCOVERIES
Andrew Kenningham, aged 52, attempted to kidnap three young girls off the street in Crofton. The police investigation revealed that during his arrest following the attempted kidnappings earlier this year, a search of his red Ford Fiesta uncovered disturbing items, including a sex toy, massage oil, stockings, and underwear, which his wife denied knowledge of.
His phone contained videos of children, some sexually provocative.
The court heard that he approached two girls, aged 11 and 12, in Crofton, asking them twice if they would get into his car.
On another occasion, he approached a girl alone, engaging her with the question, 'Are you getting in then or not?' before driving off.
CCTV confirmed his car was near the scene, linked to him by registration.
Despite no physical contact or forcible restraint, his actions raised serious concerns.
The court described him as a 'dangerous' offender, especially given the items found in his vehicle that could have been used in further offences.
Kenningham pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted kidnap and was sentenced to three years in prison, serving half of it before release on licence.
The judge expressed concern over his unexplained behaviour and the implications of the evidence collected during the investigation.
