A MAN who kicked his girlfriend round her own flat "like a rag doll" has been jailed for more than three years at Worcester Crown Court.Jealous Andrew Jones flew into a rage after Tracy Smith sat on an armchair next to her friend David White, who was drinking alcohol with them in Dowlers Hill Crescent, Redditch.
He knocked her down then subjected her to a barrage of punches and kicks, headbutted her and pulled out a chunk of her hair, said Alex Warren, prosecuting.
Mr White, who tried to rescue her, was butted in the face by Jones and knocked unconscious.
The first policeman on the scene on July 17 last year saw Miss Smith lying on the living room floor, her head covered in blood.
He thought she was dead.
Police had been called to the premises on 22 previous occasions to sort out domestic violence, said Mr Warren.
The defendant had already been sentenced six times for assaulting the same victim.
Jones, 39, of Sanders Close, Redditch, pleaded guilty to assaulting Miss Smith and causing her actual bodily harm.
He also admitted common assault on Mr White.
Jailing him for three years and three months, Recorder Nicolas Cartwright said: "When Mr White came to her rescue you were punching and kicking Miss Smith like a rag doll.
This was an attack in her own home when you were her guest.
It is plain your attitude is very worrying.
A probation report says there is a significant risk you will actually kill her in the future." The recorder imposed an indefinite restraining order preventing Jones from any contact with Miss Smith.
She suffered injuries to both eyes, an ear, arm, back, shoulder and knees.
She sustained a scalp wound that required stitches.
Defence counsel Amanda O'Mara said Jones was badly injured in a road accident at the age of 15 and had a mental age of a 10-year-old.
She said the couple had been drinking all day since getting up and had a volatile relationship.
Jones became jealous during an alcohol-fuelled argument because Miss Smith sat next to Mr White while wearing only a dressing gown, added Miss O'Mara.
