ANDREW GROVE PORTHLEVEN NAVY VETERAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD AND ANIMAL SEX ABUSE VIDEOS IN CORNWALL

In March 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Andrew Grove, a man with a military background, who was ultimately sentenced to prison for possessing and distributing highly disturbing videos and images depicting child and animal sexual abuse. Grove, aged 41 and residing at Parc an Maen in Porthleven, Cornwall, appeared before Truro Crown Court to face the consequences of his actions after admitting guilt to multiple charges.

Grove's criminal activities included the creation and dissemination of indecent images of children, with the material categorized under the most severe classifications, including Category A, which signifies the most explicit content. The court was informed that Grove possessed a total of 308 images, among which 187 were videos depicting child abuse. These videos showed young children, some as young as five years old, in distress, crying, grimacing, and clearly suffering during the abuse. The images and videos revealed acts of vaginal, oral, and anal penetration, highlighting the extreme depravity involved.

Furthermore, Grove was found to have committed the heinous act of possessing an extreme image of a person engaging in sexual activity or oral sex with a live animal. He also engaged in the distribution of Category A images, sharing them with others via online platforms. Prosecutor Phillip Lee detailed how authorities executed a warrant at Grove’s residence in Porthleven, where four laptops were seized and examined. The investigation uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent material, including content featuring children as young as five, some visibly distressed during the filming.

During the investigation, police discovered that Grove had actively searched for terms such as ‘preteen’ and ‘under age prostitute,’ indicating a deliberate intent to find and view illegal material. Evidence also showed that Grove had shared these images with others through Skype, engaging with other individuals involved in similar criminal activities. Under the alias Andy8202, Grove falsely boasted about acts he claimed to have committed involving children, further illustrating his disturbing online behavior.

Judge Robert Linford presided over the case and delivered the sentence. He described the images as representing the depths of depravity, emphasizing the young age of the victims and the severity of the acts depicted. The judge highlighted that the most serious offense was Grove’s distribution of the images, which involved sharing the material with others who shared his perverted interests. Despite Grove’s military service and the fact that he had otherwise led a blameless life, the judge acknowledged the profound impact such crimes have on society and the victims.

After careful consideration, Judge Linford sentenced Grove to two years in prison. Additionally, he imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict Grove’s future conduct and prevent further offenses. The judge expressed regret that the sentence was not longer but noted the presence of some positive qualities in Grove, which influenced his decision.
