ANDREW GEESON SENTENCED IN QUADRING FOR CHILD ABUSE AT LINCOLNSHIRE HOME

In a case that has shocked the community of Quadring and the wider Lincolnshire area, Andrew Geeson, a 27-year-old residential support worker, was sentenced to five years and four months in prison for the sexual abuse of a teenage girl. The incident took place within the confines of a children’s home located in south Lincolnshire, where Geeson was employed to care for vulnerable youths.

Geeson’s misconduct came to light after investigations revealed that he had engaged in a disturbing pattern of grooming and sexual activity with a girl who was initially 15 years old when the inappropriate relationship began. The court heard that Geeson exploited his trusted position at the children’s home to initiate contact with the girl, who was placed there due to her vulnerable circumstances.

Prosecutor Jonathon Dee outlined the timeline of events, stating that the relationship started with seemingly innocent acts such as kissing and digital penetration when the girl was just 15. Dee emphasized that Geeson was aware of her age, yet he continued his actions despite warnings from the home staff and being served with a child abduction notice, which was meant to prevent such misconduct.

The court was informed that after the girl turned 16, the relationship escalated to sexual intercourse. This progression was marked by a day out with Geeson, during which he bought her a Pandora bracelet, symbolizing a deeper emotional connection. The sexual encounters reportedly occurred at least five more times until Geeson was suspended and subsequently dismissed from his position in June 2020.

Despite his dismissal, Geeson continued to see the victim, and court photographs showed him sitting with her on his lap, indicating ongoing contact. When questioned by police, Geeson initially denied any sexual activity but later pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust, along with two additional charges related to sexual activity with a minor.

The victim, who was unable to be named for legal reasons, bravely read a heartfelt statement in court. She described her experience as a vulnerable 14-year-old placed in a children’s home, emphasizing her need for care and safety at that time. She expressed how Geeson’s actions had profoundly altered her life, stating, “Instead he took away years of my life.”

Judge Simon King, who presided over the case, delivered a stern sentence, condemning Geeson’s conduct as a blatant and egregious breach of trust. The judge highlighted the severity of the abuse, noting that it was particularly aggravating that Geeson had attempted to manipulate the victim by threatening suicide, destroying evidence on his phone and social media, and ignoring prior warnings about his behavior.

As part of his sentence, Geeson was ordered to register as a sex offender and was permanently barred from working with children. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people and the devastating consequences when those entrusted with their care abuse that trust.
