HARTHILL MAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER VIOLENT HOLIDAY PARK ASSAULT
A 39-year-old man named Andrew Frame from Harthill was found guilty of assaulting his partner by throwing a mobile phone at her in their caravan at Pease Bay Caravan Park near Coldingham on January 4.The incident resulted in the partner sustaining a three centimetre cut on her forehead, as confirmed by Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
During the court proceedings, defense lawyer Liam Alexander stated that his client had suspicions that his partner had been seeing other men and had consumed a large amount of whisky prior to the assault.
He added that Frame's temper was significantly triggered once the argument started and he was unable to control himself, admitting that the assault was 'completely unacceptable.' The court was told that the offense would have warranted a custodial sentence, but Sheriff Ian Duguid decided to impose an alternative penalty comprising 18 months of supervision and 150 hours of unpaid work.
No non-harassment order was issued due to the views of his former partner.
