ANDREW BRANNAN SENTENCED IN EAST FIFE FOR RAPE CASE AT EDINBURGH HIGH COURT
A man aged 41, Andrew Brannan, has been formally sentenced following his conviction for multiple counts of sexual assault against women in the East Fife region.The sentencing took place at Edinburgh High Court on December 8, 2021, after a jury found him guilty of raping two women over a period spanning from 2003 to 2008.
The court proceedings revealed the disturbing details of the case, which involved two separate victims who came forward to testify against Brannan.
Their courage in facing the ordeal and providing evidence in court was commended by law enforcement officials.
Detective Constable Kenny Watt expressed his appreciation for the victims' bravery, stating, “The young women who agreed to testify against him have shown enormous courage from the time of being approached by the Police to having to give evidence in court and their actions means Brannan will now face the consequences of his actions.
We hope this outcome will help them and their families to move forward.” He further emphasized the importance of encouraging other victims to come forward, adding, “I hope the bravery shown by the victim will encourage others who have suffered to come forward.
We will thoroughly investigate all reports of sexual offences to bring perpetrators of these crimes to justice.” Following the trial, Andrew Brannan was sentenced to seven years in prison, marking a significant step in the pursuit of justice for the victims and reinforcing the commitment of Scottish authorities to combat sexual violence in the East Fife area.
