ANDREW BATESON FROM BIDFORD CAUGHT WITH GROSSE AND DEPRAVED CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES
In July 2013, authorities uncovered disturbing evidence when they apprehended Andrew Bateson, a resident of Bidford, after he accessed a website dedicated to selling child pornography.During the subsequent investigation, police discovered on his computer a collection of images described as both grotesque and depraved, depicting children in explicit and disturbing contexts.
Andrew Bateson, aged 38 and residing on Grafton Lane in Bidford, faced serious criminal charges related to the possession of indecent images of minors.
He pleaded guilty to a total of 12 charges, which included possessing both still images and moving footage that depicted children in sexual acts, as well as possessing extreme pornography that was deemed highly disturbing and offensive.
Following his guilty plea, Bateson was sentenced to a community-based punishment.
The court imposed a sentence that included three years of supervision, during which he would be monitored and required to comply with certain conditions.
Additionally, he was mandated to participate in a probation programme lasting 100 days, which Judge Alan Parker explicitly stated should be a sex offender treatment programme, aimed at addressing his conduct and preventing future offenses.
Furthermore, Bateson was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, a legal requirement intended to keep him under scrutiny and facilitate monitoring of his activities.
As part of his sentence, he was also subjected to an electronically-tagged curfew, restricting his movements from 7pm to 7am for a duration of six months.
This curfew was designed to limit his access to potential victims and reduce the risk of reoffending, reflecting the seriousness with which the court viewed his crimes.
