ACTON MAN GIVEN INDEFINITE SENTENCE FOR VICIOUS RAPE OF GRANDMOTHER
A vicious knife-wielding sex offender who attacked a grandmother in her own home has been sentenced to indefinite imprisonment under new legislation aimed at protecting the public. The offender, Andrej Balog, 35, from Bollobridge Road, Acton, was found guilty of viciously raping a woman at knife-point, subjected to other sexual acts, and forcing her to part with cash.
The attack occurred in the early hours, with Balog standing naked in the woman's bedroom doorway with an object later identified as a knife.
The victim woke at approximately 4:30 am, and Balog entered her bed holding the weapon to her throat.
She sustained bruising and internal injuries.
Balog’s arrest followed fingerprint identification and DNA evidence; he was quickly traced through a fingerprint on a window.
Despite denying the charges, claiming the encounter was consensual, he was convicted of two counts of rape and one of burglary.
Prosecutors revealed he has a substantial criminal record in Slovakia, including burglary and robbery, which left an elderly woman needing 35 days of hospital care.
Judge Richard McGregorh-Johnson, noting the new laws, sentenced him to a minimum of four years and 158 days before any possibility of release, with ongoing license supervision and lifetime registration on the sex offenders register.
