ABERDEEN IT CONSULTANT PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULTING SCHOOLBOYS OVER ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOR
An IT consultant has pleaded guilty to assaulting two schoolboys aged 15 in Aberdeen, claiming the boys were "harassing" him outside his residence. The incident happened on June 10th last year on Albert Lane, where Hamed, who is a software consultant and PhD student, admitted to attacking the teenagers.
He stated that his actions were a result of frustration caused by the boys' antisocial behavior, which included throwing cigarette butts on his doorstep, smoking cannabis, and ringing his doorbell repeatedly.
Hamed admitted to punching one boy in the head with his leg and kneeing another in the face.
Court proceedings reported that around 10am on the day of the attack, the boys were outside his home, with one attempting to ring his buzzer to annoy him, which he approached but did not proceed with.
Later, Hamed approached the boys while they were sitting on a wall and asked whether they had rung his buzzer.
When they denied it, he struck one boy to the chin with his knee and punched the other in the head.
Hamed was arrested at around 3pm that same day, cautioned, and charged.
During the hearing, his defence lawyer explained that Hamed was dealing with repeated incidents of antisocial behavior and that his frustration "boiled over." The court deferred sentencing for a social work report and considered an absolute discharge due to fears that a conviction might impact his right to work in the UK.
Sheriff Lesly Johnston ordered a deferral of the sentence.
