MAN WHO PUNCHED HIS PARTNER IN THE JAW WHILE SHE SLEPT HAS BEEN JAILED
Alvis Sturmanis, aged 44, attempted to wake a woman at their residence in Peterborough in December of the previous year, intending to ask her a question while she was still asleep.Dissatisfied with her sleepy response, he punched her in the jaw.
When she tried to stand and escape, he detained her by grabbing her shoulder to stop her from leaving the room.

Despite this, he re-entered the shared home and shouted at his son, warning him he would face consequences for calling the police.
He also made an attempt to hang himself in front of his children.
He pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH), assault by beating, and intimidating a witness.
Additionally, he admitted to damaging the property in the house they shared earlier in the year.
During her holiday, Sturmanis had threatened to contact the airport to prevent her from traveling, and upon her return, he caused destruction throughout the home.
