ALLESANDRO GRANO FROM BETHNAL GREEN JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LONDON
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Allesandro Grano, a 27-year-old resident of Bethnal Green, was sentenced to 12 months in prison after being found in possession of an extensive collection of child pornography. The investigation revealed that Grano's laptop contained a staggering total of 12,496 images and videos, many of which depicted the most heinous forms of abuse, including bestiality and the sexual assault of young children.Authorities uncovered the illicit material during a raid on Grano's home in Bethnal Green in May 2009. The police officers, acting on intelligence, seized his computer and discovered the vast library of illegal content. The Crown counsel described the collection as highly disturbing, with some images classified under the most severe 'level 5' category, indicating the extreme nature of the material involved.
According to court reports, the collection included images of children as young as six years old, highlighting the grave severity of the offense. In total, 191 videos were recovered from Grano's device, further emphasizing the extent of his illicit activities. The case was brought before London's Southwark Crown Court, where Grano faced multiple charges.
During the proceedings, Grano pleaded guilty to ten counts of downloading child pornography and two counts of possessing such material. The prosecution, led by Peter Zinner, detailed the disturbing contents of the collection, which contained images and videos of children being exploited in the most horrific ways.
Judge Gregory Stone QC, presiding over the case, decided to adjourn sentencing until June 17 to allow for a pre-sentence report. The judge also ordered that Grano remain on bail but must surrender his passport to prevent him from fleeing the country. The case has drawn significant attention due to the severity of the crimes and the location in Bethnal Green, a district in East London known for its diverse community.
