ALLAN HUNTER FROM MOSSEND FACES JAIL AFTER REPEATED CHILD PORN OFFENCES IN SCOTLAND
In December 2018, Allan Hunter, who had previously been involved in serious offences related to child exploitation, was released back into the community in Mossend after serving part of his sentence.His criminal history includes a conviction from June 2018, when Sheriff Bicket sentenced him to a year in prison.
The court also imposed a two-year licence period following his release, during which Hunter is subject to strict conditions set by Scottish Government ministers.
Additionally, Hunter is required to register as a sex offender for a period of three years, reflecting the severity of his offences and the ongoing concern for public safety.
Earlier, in May 2018, Hunter’s disturbing history came to light once again.
It was reported that he, a known paedophile living in close proximity to a children’s playpark, had exhibited a clear desire to engage in sexual contact with minors.
His previous conviction involved being caught with child pornography, which led to him being placed under supervision.
Despite this, less than six months later, Hunter found himself back in court facing similar allegations.
At the time of the latest police intervention, Hunter was residing in a sheltered housing complex in Mossend, specifically in a one-bedroom flat at Unitas Court.
The police executed a raid on his residence in June 2018, uncovering a disturbing collection of indecent images.
Hunter, aged 60 at the time, was living alone when officers arrived.
The investigation revealed that Hunter had shared dozens of indecent images with other paedophiles via online platforms, specifically through Kik Messenger.
The images included photographs of boys and girls aged between two and twelve years old, which were found on his phone, a device that was located on his bed during the police search.
Prosecutor Callum Forsyth detailed that the images found on Hunter’s phone amounted to 71 in total.
The images had been sent to Hunter by other users, and he had also shared images himself.
During police questioning, Hunter refused to comment, replying with a simple “no comment” to all questions.
The court was informed that Hunter had previously been caught with indecent images of children in January of the previous year.
He was subsequently sentenced in November, receiving a three-year supervision order and a ban on unsupervised contact with minors.
Following the June police raid, Hunter appeared in Hamilton Sheriff Court on a petition.
He was remanded in custody for a week before being granted bail.
The court proceedings revealed that Hunter had expressed a disturbing desire to have sexual contact with children during online discussions.
Sheriff David Bicket, presiding over the case, ordered that background reports and a risk assessment be prepared before deciding on Hunter’s final sentence.
Hunter has since moved to another part of Mossend and remains on bail, with a court date scheduled for June 4 to determine his future legal consequences.
