PARTNER JAILED FOR STABBING HIS DOMESTIC PARTNER IN WALES
On December 27, 2023, Alfie Jack Field, aged 22, faced charges related to a severe domestic violence incident involving his partner. The woman initially claimed that her injuries resulted from an accidental fall involving a knife, which caused a deep laceration on her leg.
Nevertheless, medical professionals found her statement suspicious because of the extent of her injury, which measured 5 centimeters deep and necessitated a blood transfusion.
After investigating the circumstances and speaking with the victim, police suspected abuse and subsequently detained Field.
The victim, who was sensitive and terrified, received support from both police and healthcare staff.
During his appearance at Swansea Crown Court, Field admitted to causing the injury without intent and to threatening his partner using a weapon.
He was subsequently sentenced to two years in prison and was issued a five-year restraining order to prevent contact with the victim.
Detective Inspector Sam Gregory commented on the case, highlighting the victim’s bravery in cooperating with authorities amid her fear.
He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among agencies and expressed confidence that the support provided made a difference, reflecting Dyfed-Powys Police's firm stance against domestic abuse.
Additionally, hospital authorities underscored the significance of vigilance and victim support, announcing a new Domestic Violence Advocate at Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth to enhance care for victims in medical settings.
