ABERDEEN STUDENT THREATENED TO BEHEAD EX-GIRLFRIEND AND FOLLOWED A COURSE OF TERROR
An Aberdeen student named Alexandre Mboue, aged 26, was involved in a campaign of terror against his ex-girlfriend following their breakup last year.Despite being ordered not to approach her and being on bail, Mboue repeatedly visited her home and sent menacing social media messages.
In March, he frightened her by turning up at her property on Dunbar Street in Aberdeen and leaving unwanted gifts.
The woman received a series of Snapchat messages from June 2020 to January this year, in which Mboue threatened to "behead" her and take her head back to her father.
He also conveyed threats such as "You will die and I will drag you there".
At court, the fiscal depute Tom Proctor stated that in messages from January this year, Mboue called the woman "a liar", "a snake" and "Judas".
He further described him as saying things like "for you, I’m a serial killer watching now" and "I’m not someone you should mess with", along with threats to kill her, slash her throat, and remove her teeth.
Mboue was later located by police in Glasgow, where he was cautioned and arrested.
During proceedings, the defense attorney Stuart Flowerdew expressed remorse on Mboue’s behalf, noting he now fully understands how frightening his actions were and expressing responsibility and remorse.
The lawyer also described Mboue as someone who had a good upbringing and education but whose life deteriorated after first being introduced to cannabis.
The court heard that this led to falling out with family and the woman involved, and a decline in mental health through 2021.
Mboue became homeless and was detained at Gartnaval Hospital in Glasgow.
He then absconded and was found wandering naked before being taken to Barlinnie Prison.
Sheriff Mark Stewart QC described Mboue’s situation as a dramatic fall from being a student with a promising future to being "homeless, naked and now imprisoned".
The court imposed a three-year non-harassment order and a two-year community payback order with supervision.
Additionally, a mental health review was ordered.
The sheriff emphasized concern for the victim’s welfare and warned Mboue that contact or approaching her by any means is forbidden.
