TEENAGE PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR NINE YEARS WHO SAW HIMSELF AS A FATHER FIGURE TO 12-YEAR-OLD VICTIM
An 18-year-old man Alexander Davies, was given a nine-year extended prison sentence following his involvement in online child abuse activities aimed at acquiring and sharing illegal images with other offenders.During court proceedings at Cardiff Crown Court, Davies admitted to police that he found images of child exploitation "therapeutic" and saw himself as a "father figure" to a girl aged 12 he groomed.
The police became aware of Davies's disturbing online activity after discovering an anonymous Discord account he operated that uploaded three indecent photos of a minor.
When officers searched his home on May 7 of the previous year, they confiscated devices containing hundreds of such images.
Davies confided that his addiction to pornography and the thrill of "breaking the rules" provided a sense of relief.
He had engaged in online communications with a 12-year-old girl, persuading her to send explicit photos.
Although he was released on bail with restrictions on contact, subsequent investigations revealed he continued communication with her using a different username, as well as grooming another underage girl.
In subsequent police interviews, Davies referred to himself as an "online predator" and acknowledged chatting with other paedophiles about drugging and raping children, describing these acts as a "fantasy." Court proceedings noted his disturbing behaviour, including closing his eyes, shaking his head, and muttering as the details were read out.
The court heard that Davies had vowed to harm the girl further, sending her a video of her being spanked with a hairbrush material he used to access paedophile chat sites and coercing her to send explicit images of herself penetrating objects.
Despite admitting to being "brutal and domineering," he claimed this was what she wanted.
He also identified himself as a father figure to her.
Throughout his online interactions, Davies sent explicit images of himself performing sexual acts, discussed rape, and asked the girls for explicit images, which he traded with other offenders.
His electronic devices contained 478 images classified as Category A the most severe along with hundreds in lesser categories, and 58 images deemed "prohibited," including animal abuse.
One of the victims expressed in a statement that Davies made her feel he was someone else and that she was in a relationship with him.
She now finds it difficult to trust others, feeling angry and confused about her experiences.
Davies, of Kings Road, Pontcanna, pleaded guilty to 16 charges, such as sexual communication with a child, inciting sexual acts, possession and distribution of indecent images, and coercing a child into viewing sexual content.
He had a prior conviction in 2022 related to indecent images.
The judge remarked that the previous sentence was very lenient, likely due to his age at that time.
The judge emphasized that Davies’s current offenses involved strategic planning, including the use of a new username after his bail.
He acknowledged that Davies was 17 when he started offending and described him as "a bright young man" with constructive activity during remand.
Despite this, Davies was deemed a significant threat to children and was sentenced to nine years, with six in prison and additional license conditions afterward.
His release would be monitored, and he would be subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
As he was detained, a distressed family member blew a kiss to him in court, reflecting the complex emotions involved.
