ALEKSEY TOCHER FROM BRIDGE OF DON FACES JAIL OVER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN ABERDEEN
In a serious case that has shocked the local community, Aleksey Tocher, a 23-year-old resident of Grandholm Court in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, has been warned he could face imprisonment after being found in possession of over 400 indecent images of children. The disturbing discovery was made during a police investigation into his online activities, which revealed that Tocher had downloaded a significant number of illicit images from the internet and various chat websites between February 26 and November 21 of the previous year.Among the images recovered, authorities identified 137 as Category A, indicating the most graphic and severe material. An additional 116 images were classified as Category B, while 148 fell into Category C, representing less severe but still illegal content. The sheer volume and categorization of these images underscore the gravity of the offense and the potential harm caused.
On November 30, Tocher admitted to police that he had been viewing these images, expressing to officers that he “had a problem,” which suggests an awareness of his troubling behavior but also highlights the seriousness of his actions. Following his admission, law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search of his residence, seizing his personal mobile phone, two other mobile devices, and an SD memory card to determine if any indecent images were stored on them.
During the search, officers also discovered a USB stick wrapped in kitchen roll placed beside the kitchen sink. It was later revealed that Tocher had attempted to destroy the contents of the USB by running it under the tap, an act indicating an effort to conceal or destroy evidence. These findings contributed to the case against him and demonstrated a clear attempt to hide his illicit activities.
Tocher appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court where he faced charges related to possession and viewing of indecent images of children. Sheriff Graeme Napier addressed the court, emphasizing the seriousness of the offenses, and warned that a custodial sentence was a real possibility. The judge stated, “You recognize that these are serious offences. A custodial sentence is one that has to be in contemplation.”
He is scheduled to be sentenced next month, and the case continues to draw attention to the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and online abuse in the Aberdeen area.
