A man has received a prison sentence exceeding six years after admitting to a serious assault on a woman in Aberdeen.
Albert Massie, aged 35, was sentenced to six years and four months in prison following his appearance at the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Thursday, 7 November, 2024, when Massie attacked the woman at a property on Princes Street in Aberdeen.
He pleaded guilty to the charges of assault and causing danger to her life.
Additionally, Massie has been issued a non-harassment order that will last indefinitely.
Detective Chief Inspector Steven McDonald commented: “Massie is an abusive individual who carried out a violent and vicious attack, for which he now faces the consequences of his actions.
"Domestic abuse can cause lasting harm and tackling this type of offending remains a priority for Police Scotland.
He added: "I would encourage anyone who has experienced domestic abuse to report it to Police Scotland.
Every report is taken seriously and will be fully investigated.”
