ALAN TANNERHILL
Alan Tannerhill, a HGV driver, initially locked his partner inside her Newcastle home before forcing her to move upstairs while shouting at her to get up.
The court heard that the 52-year-old then threw her into kitchen cabinets and smashed her against a radiator, causing injury to her back and causing her to fall.
While she was on the ground, Tannerhill continued his assault by kicking and punching her until she was able to grab her phone, call the police, and escape the house.
Prosecutors stated that Tannerhill, of Kirkheaton Place, Fenham, was arrested and faced charges of assault by beating at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.
Although he pleaded not guilty, he was convicted after a trial and was brought to court again for sentencing.
He maintained his innocence and accused the victim, leading the District Judge Paul Currer to sentence him to 16 weeks in prison.
