ALAN ROGERS' TRAGIC END INCADEBY: LEICESTERSHIRE CHILD MOLESTER'S FINAL ACT IN HEIGHINGTON

In a somber turn of events, Alan Rogers, a man with a long history of criminal offenses related to child sexual abuse, was found dead in Heighington, near Lincoln, marking a tragic conclusion to his troubled life. The incident was confirmed as a suicide during an inquest held at Lincoln Cathedral Centre, revealing that Rogers, aged 52, took his own life after facing restrictions on his living arrangements following his release from Lincoln Prison in March.

Rogers was ordered to reside in a hostel in Leicester, a requirement stemming from his criminal record and the conditions of his parole. However, he failed to report to the designated accommodation after his release, prompting concern among authorities and loved ones. His decomposed body was discovered approximately a month later by a dog walker, who stumbled upon him hanging inside an abandoned horse shelter located in a field in Heighington, a village near Lincoln. The inquest concluded that Rogers had committed suicide, with evidence pointing to his apparent state of despair.

Investigators found the shelter to be a makeshift refuge for Rogers, containing bedding, discarded beer cans, and remnants of a fire. Notably, a message etched onto the wall using charcoal from the fire's embers served as a stark note, reflecting his mental state and possibly his feelings of hopelessness. The authorities confirmed that Rogers' last known residence was on Hinckley Road in Cadeby, a village near Market Bosworth in Leicestershire, an area with which he had longstanding ties.

Rogers' criminal history is extensive and deeply troubling. In 1996, he was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of indecently assaulting five young girls he met through his interest in horse riding. His offenses involved multiple victims aged between 13 and 15, with one victim as young as 14 having unlawful sexual intercourse with him. His previous convictions were linked to his work at a farm, where he allowed victims to ride his horse and provided alcohol to underage girls, further illustrating his predatory behavior.

More recently, Rogers was sentenced in September of the previous year to 12 months in prison after admitting to breaching a risk of sexual harm order twice. The court was told that he had made contact with a girl using his horse as a means to attract her attention, despite being explicitly banned from contacting females under 16. The contact was initiated after the girl posted an online advert seeking to exercise horses, which Rogers responded to by sending her a photo of his horse and asking when she would turn 16. His attempt to communicate continued through Facebook, where he later discussed arrangements with her mother, who was unaware of his criminal background.

Rogers had expressed a desire to return to Cadeby, but plans were thwarted when the owner of the property he intended to live in was attacked within 48 hours of the details of his release being made public. Consequently, he was ordered to live in a hostel, and he believed he was being unfairly targeted by Leicestershire Police, a sentiment he expressed during the inquest. His death was officially recorded as a suicide on April 15, following his body’s discovery in April, closing a chapter marked by legal troubles, social rejection, and personal despair.
