Leven Child Abuser
A 50-year-old man from Leven has been charged with possessing and sharing indecent images of children after admitting to downloading hundreds of such files over a period of five years.
Alan Fraser appeared before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, where he admitted to both taking and creating indecent images. He explained that he had left his employment to care for his parents, both of whom have since died from cancer.
The police carried out a search warrant at Fraser's home on January 18, 2022, followed by a raid on February 26. During the search, officers found multiple devices, including a mobile phone, a desktop computer, and an external hard drive. These items were subsequently examined and found to contain numerous indecent images.
On the hard drive, authorities identified 166 Category A still images, 177 Category B images, and 106 Category C images. However, all of those files were reported as no longer accessible, except for four Category C images, which were still reachable. Additional illegal material was located on the desktop computer, including 12 Category A images, 21 Category B images, and 111 Category C images, some dating back to 2017.
Fraser's legal representative, David Bell, pointed out that there were limited opportunities to present mitigating circumstances, noting that Fraser spent considerable time online after leaving the workforce.
Sheriff Robert More ordered Fraser to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and instructed that further reports should be prepared for his sentencing. As this is Fraser's first conviction, he is due to be sentenced on March 8.
