In a case that has shocked the community of Maidenhead, Alan Clarke, a 55-year-old man from White Paddock, was handed a severe prison sentence of 20 years following his conviction on multiple serious charges related to the sexual abuse of young girls. The sentencing took place yesterday, marking a significant development in a case that uncovered a disturbing pattern of criminal behavior spanning over a decade.

Clarke was found guilty of a series of heinous offences, including the rape of a girl under the age of 13, four counts of sexual assault against a girl under 13, and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. His criminal record also includes convictions for indecent assault and indecency with a child. These offences were committed in Maidenhead over a period from 2003 to 2014, revealing a troubling history of predatory behavior.

The victims in this case were three young girls, with one aged between nine and eleven at the time of the offences. Another victim was just 11 years old, while a third was aged 14. The details of the abuse have caused widespread concern among residents and authorities alike, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safeguarding measures for children.

Alan Clarke was known publicly as an archery coach who volunteered at SportsAble, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. His role within the community as a coach and volunteer had previously garnered respect, making the revelations of his criminal conduct all the more shocking. The contrast between his public persona and his criminal actions has left many in disbelief.

Following his conviction, Clarke was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Additionally, he has been placed on the sex offenders register for life, a measure that ensures ongoing monitoring of his activities. He was also issued a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, aimed at preventing any future offenses and protecting the community from potential harm.

Earlier in September 2017, Clarke, then aged 54, was found guilty at Reading Crown Court of similar charges, including the rape of a child under 13, four counts of sexual assault, and inciting sexual activity with a minor. The jury's verdict also confirmed his guilt on charges of indecent assault and indecency with a child. His sentencing was scheduled for November 10, 2017, but the severity of his crimes and the length of his sentence reflect the gravity of his actions and the community’s demand for justice.
