SEXUAL PREDATOR GROPED WOMAN IN BROAD DAYLIGHT NEAR SHOPPING CENTRE
A former nurse who groped a lone woman near a shopping centre whispered, “You’re not like the other ones who usually scream.” Akeem Badmos, 42, was spotted during the afternoon near Ashford Designer Outlet before subjecting her to the terrifying ordeal.Badmos, of Chatham, was jailed at Canterbury Crown Court after the victim described feeling "like a piece of meat." The woman, once confident and happy, said in a victim impact statement: “That all changed at 3.15pm when that man grabbed me.
I felt abused, disgusted, like I was branded a piece of meat.” During the incident, Badmos then parked his vehicle, ran over to her, and “grabbed hold of her in a bear-hug manner,” according to Recorder Daniel Stevenson.
“You placed your hands underneath and on top of her breasts, you were pushing yourself onto her.
You said to her: ‘You’re not like the other ones who usually scream.’” The woman tried to escape, but Badmos clung to her arm with such force that she sustained significant bruising.
During his trial, Badmos claimed he only tapped the woman on the shoulder, but a jury found him guilty of assault and sexual assault.
He attended Friday’s sentencing in court wearing a white shirt and grey jumper, supported by family.
His barrister described him as previously of good character and suggested the attack was in the spur of the moment due to social cue ignorance.
The judge stated that women should be able to go about their lives without fear and highlighted that Badmos tried to minimize his actions and discredit the victim.
He was sentenced to two years in prison, to be released no later than halfway, with the remainder served on license in the community.
Badmos also expressed remorse and apologized, though court comments indicated he still denies wrongdoing and refuses to accept full remorse, which influenced the sentence.
