AIMEE WYNN AND PETER GORDON SHOCK WOOLES AND BITTERNE WITH BRUTAL DOG ABUSE IN SOUTHAMPTON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Woolston and Bitterne in Southampton, Aimee Elizabeth Wynn and Peter Gordon have been convicted of a prolonged and vicious attack on a defenseless dachshund named Spike. Wynn, born on April 5, 1977, and residing at 7 Condor Close, Woolston, along with Gordon, born in 1977 and living on Blackthorn Road, Bitterne, were caught on camera and witnessed by bystanders engaging in a brutal assault that left the small dog suffering severe physical abuse.

The incident unfolded on June 12, 2023, along a riverbank in Brockenhurst, within the New Forest area. Witnesses reported seeing Wynn pinning Spike to the ground by his scruff, then repeatedly striking him six or seven times across his ribs and stomach. The sounds of the dog's squeals echoed as Wynn continued her assault, which was described as relentless and highly aggressive. After the beating, Wynn was observed lifting Spike and forcefully throwing him towards nearby bushes approximately 15 feet away, causing further distress and injury.

Meanwhile, Peter Gordon, known for his history as a domestic abuser and a drink driver, was seen dragging Spike along his lead. In a disturbing turn, Gordon then picked up the injured dog and threw him at Wynn. The two then engaged in a violent exchange, with Wynn repeatedly throwing Spike to the ground from chest height while shouting and screaming at Gordon. Eyewitnesses later saw Wynn holding Spike and striking him on the head and chest before hurling him again. Recognizing the severity of the situation, witnesses approached the couple, managed to take Spike away from them, and promptly contacted the police.

Veterinary experts who examined Spike provided a detailed report to the court, describing the extent of the abuse. The veterinarian stated, “It is clear from the descriptions given by the witnesses that Spike suffered a highly abusive prolonged physical attack. It is my expert opinion that undoubtedly Spike suffered physical pain as a consequence of the physical abuse that was directed at him both by Ms Wynn and to a lesser extent by Mr Gordon.”

Animal welfare authorities, including RSPCA Inspector Miranda Albinson, expressed their gratitude to the members of the public who intervened. She emphasized the importance of compassion and the pain animals endure when subjected to cruelty. Inspector Albinson said, “We’re really grateful to all the members of the public who kindly helped Spike and intervened when seeing him being subjected to horrendous mistreatment. They are animal heroes who stood up for Spike when he was in desperate need. Animals feel pain and suffering just like we do and always deserve to be shown kindness and compassion. Sadly Spike wasn’t shown the care he deserved when he was abused in public.”

Following the court proceedings, Spike was placed in a new, caring home, ensuring he would no longer be subjected to such cruelty. As for Wynn and Gordon, they received a sentence that included a 12-month community order with 15 days of rehabilitation activities. They were also ordered to pay fines of £350 and a victim surcharge of £114. Additionally, both individuals are banned from keeping dogs for five years, a restriction that will expire in January 2030, in an effort to prevent any future harm to animals.
