ADRIAN WHILEY FROM EAST WINCH JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN NORWICH
In a case that has drawn significant attention in West Norfolk, Adrian Whiley, a 37-year-old resident of East Winch near King’s Lynn, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of possessing indecent images of children. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of minors and the importance of strict enforcement of court orders related to sex offenses.According to court records, Whiley was already on the sex offenders register due to a previous conviction for downloading indecent images of young children onto his mobile device in March of the previous year. Despite this, authorities discovered that he had once again violated the terms of his court order.
The breach was uncovered during a routine police check conducted in September of this year. Officers, who were monitoring individuals on the sex offenders register, examined Whiley’s mobile phone and found evidence that he had been searching the internet for images of children. Further inspection revealed that he possessed three indecent images of minors on his device.
The court heard that Whiley, who resides at Town Close in East Winch, admitted to making the indecent images, which constituted a clear breach of his previous court order. This order, issued in March, had included a six-month suspended jail sentence for similar offenses, specifically viewing images of children aged between one and nine years old.
Judge Anthony Bate presided over the case and sentenced Whiley to serve an additional six months in prison, on top of the suspended sentence. The judge emphasized that Whiley had deliberately flouted the court’s restrictions by downloading and viewing the images again. As part of his sentence, Whiley was ordered to remain on the sex offenders register for a further seven years and to comply with a sexual offences prevention order designed to restrict his activities and monitor his behavior.
During the proceedings, John Morgans, representing Whiley, highlighted the defendant’s ongoing struggles with mental health issues and personal difficulties. Morgans stated, “There are issues and limitations that he faces. Any time in custody is going to be particularly difficult.”
This case underscores the persistent challenge authorities face in monitoring and managing individuals with a history of sexual offenses, especially those who breach court orders. The community of East Winch and the wider West Norfolk area are reminded of the importance of vigilance and the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and harm.
