Adrian Hart, aged 51 and residing on Musket Lane, will serve an additional three-year period on licence as part of his extended sentence.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
During the months of June to August in 1999, Hart formed a relationship with a victim who was still in secondary school, and this relationship involved sexual activity.
At that time, Hart was 32 years old.
Seven years later, in 2016, Hart attempted to reconnect with his victim through social media.
In September of that year, the victim reached out to law enforcement, revealing the abuse.
Hart admitted to committing five counts of child rape and two counts of child indecent assault.
He appeared for sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, August 10, 2018.
