JUDGE 'DEEPLY WORRIED' BY MAN WHO DEFIED BAN ALLOWING HIM NEAR SCHOOLS
A jobless man twice defied court orders to stay away from schools and was told by a judge: "This is deeply worrying." He imposed a four-month prison term, suspended for two years, on Adan Barks, 47, who appeared at Nottingham Crown Court.Judge Timothy Spencer QC told him: "In the last five years, you seem to have developed an unhealthy sexual interest.
It is rather odd because for most of your life you stayed away from that sort of thing.
I do not want anyone to think I am not extremely worried about it because I am.
This is deeply worrying." In 2015, Barks was convicted of indecency offences.
Three years later, he was fined £100 for pinching a woman's bottom.
The judge said: "It amounts to a pattern of what is to come.
It becomes very worrying.
Did you learn from this?
No." On April 29, Barks was seen close to Nottingham Girls' High School, breaching a court order to stay at least 25 metres away from schools and nurseries.
On May 31, he was again spotted near the school's nursery, carrying a litter picking stick.
The judge told Barks: "This has got to stop, hasn't it?" Barks replied: "Yes." Probation officers will continue to work with Barks, of Balmoral Road, Colwick, and the 25-metre exclusion zone remains.
The probation order started last year and needs more time to be effective, with the programme possibly being adapted for better understanding.
"You are dealing with a defendant who has admitted the extent of his desires and difficulties," said Mr.
Smith.
Richard Veni, the prosecutor, said Barks had "started to steal children's underwear and admitted an interest in children." A police community support officer first saw him outside the girls' school and checked his mobile phone, which contained "eight to ten adult themed photographs, none of children." When seen again, he had a litter picking stick but threw it away.
Mr.
Veni added: "Asked what he was doing, he mumbles something and walks away." Barks pleaded guilty to twice breaking the terms of a sexual harm prevention order.
