CASINO WORKER JAILED FOR RAPE
2016.A casino employee from Blackpool was sentenced to four years in prison after assaulting and raping a woman at his residence in the seaside town.
Adam Hurley, aged 22, disregarded the woman’s protests and pleas to cease during the assault, which took place in his bedroom following an offer of a massage.
The woman, who cannot be identified due to legal restrictions, repeatedly expressed her unwillingness to have sex.
Hurley’s mother, who was in an adjoining room, heard the argument and called out to her son through the wall, asking him to stop, saying, "Will you not just take no for an answer?" Despite this, Hurley proceeded to force sexual intercourse, during which he reportedly held her head into a pillow and pulled her hair, according to court testimony.
After the incident, Hurley asked if she had enjoyed it, to which she responded, “Did I look like I enjoyed it?” Preston Crown Court was told that after the assault, Hurley went to work but later sent a message to the woman saying, “I hate myself.” He admitted to friends that he made her have sex with him and expressed feelings of disgust and suicidal thoughts about his actions.
Despite this, Hurley pleaded not guilty to rape, but a jury convicted him after a trial.
During the trial, it was revealed that the woman confided in coworkers, and one of them informed her husband, a serving police officer, about the incident.
Judge Andrew Woolman sentenced Hurley to four years of imprisonment.
