ADAM HARRISON, PLYMOUTH'S DEVIANT SEX OFFENDER, SENTENCED FOR CHILD RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
In a case that has shocked the community of Plymouth, Adam Harrison, a 19-year-old resident of Trevose Way, Efford, was found guilty of heinous sexual crimes involving minors and subsequently sentenced to a lengthy prison term. The proceedings took place at Plymouth Crown Court, where Harrison faced justice for multiple serious charges related to the sexual abuse of young girls.
Harrison was convicted on three counts: the rape of a girl under the age of 13, causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity with a girl under 16.
The defendant had previously entered a guilty plea to all charges, which underscored the severity of his crimes.
The court was informed of the disturbing details surrounding the case.
It was revealed that Harrison initially established contact with one of the victims through Facebook, where he engaged in grooming behavior.
He complimented her appearance, calling her pretty, and expressed a desire to meet in person.
This online interaction eventually led to the girl visiting his home, where the sexual assault took place.
The incident came to light after the girl confided in an adult about her concerns regarding potential sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy, prompting an investigation.
Forensic tests confirmed that Harrison’s DNA was present on items of the victim’s clothing, providing concrete evidence of his involvement.
The court also heard about the second victim, whom Harrison met and then intoxicated with alcohol before engaging in sexual activity.
After the assault, he left her in a heavily intoxicated state, crying in the street, which further highlighted his reckless and predatory behavior.
Judge Miranda Robertshaw addressed the court, emphasizing the innocence of the victims and condemning Harrison’s actions.
She stated, “There is no question they were both victims of your deviant behaviour and they are not responsible for what happened.” As a result of his crimes, Adam Harrison was sentenced to six years in prison.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
