2009: KINGSWINFORD MAN JAILED FOR GIRLFRIEND ASSAULT
A Kingswinford man, Adam Dellicott, aged 25, received a three-year prison sentence after he injured his girlfriend with a penknife. At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Judge Nicholas Webb described Dellicott as having a propensity for violence and for wielding knives.
The judge noted that this was Dellicott’s third conviction involving the use of a weapon and commented, "You tend to blame others for your criminal behavior." He recounted past incidents, including a threat made to an 11-year-old girl with a craft knife and an incident where Dellicott brandished a knife at his partner, Pamela Cartwright, during a period when he was said to have 'lost control.' The court was told that Miss Cartwright had been subjected to repeated acts of violence and harassment by Dellicott, who lives on Rokewood Close.
Judge Webb stated, "It’s clear there were other episodes of violence against her.
She was the victim of ongoing violence and harassment over several months, and you have committed serious offenses multiple times." The judge determined that a substantial prison sentence was justified, asserting, "I believe you pose a danger when you are overwhelmed and things go beyond your control." Following a jury trial, Dellicott was convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm to Miss Cartwright.
His defence attorney, Peter Cooke, claimed that her injuries were minor and did not require medical attention.
Cooke emphasized that Dellicott was not a dangerous person and described him as a young man struggling to handle stressful circumstances.
