ADAM CLUBB SENTENCED FOR ABUSE IN KINSON AND BOURNEMOUTH - VICTIMS LEFT TRAUMATIZED

In December 2004, a disturbing case of long-term child abuse came to a close at Bournemouth Crown Court, highlighting the ongoing battle against sexual offenders and the lasting impact on victims. Adam Clubb, a 35-year-old man residing on Mandale Road in Kinson, was found guilty of a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual exploitation of three young children over a period exceeding ten years.

Clubb was convicted on 11 counts of indecency with a child and eight counts of indecent assault, with the offences spanning from August 1991 to May 2002. The victims included one boy and two girls, all of whom suffered profound emotional and psychological trauma as a result of his actions. The court heard that the abuse began when the boy was just six years old, marking the start of a prolonged and deeply disturbing pattern of exploitation.

During the trial, prosecutor Tim Bradbury detailed the severity of the offences, emphasizing the betrayal of trust and the devastating effects on the victims. In his defense, lawyer Paul Hester described Clubb as a man of previously good character who maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings. Hester also noted that Clubb was a broken man, expressing that the prison experience had been a shock and a source of significant distress for him.

Judge Roger Jarvis delivered a stern sentence, condemning Clubb’s decade-long abuse as 'quite disgusting.' He stated, “All those young children had a perfect right to grow up in innocence but, for your own sexual needs, you wickedly abused them. Significant damage was caused to your victims. The two older children suffered deep anxiety. Because of you, they felt compelled to do as you required of them.”

As the sentence was handed down, Clubb showed no visible emotion as he was led away from the court. The consequences of his actions extend beyond the courtroom, with authorities emphasizing the importance of justice and support for victims. Detective Constable Hayley Walker commented on the challenges faced in prosecuting such cases, noting the secrecy involved and the resilience of the victims. She stated, “These types of offences are very difficult to take to court because of the secrecy involved. The victims are now trying to get on with their lives. The youngest have moved away in an attempt to try to make a fresh start and are now alienated from their friends. All have been greatly affected and will need a lot of future support and counselling. It was extremely distressing for them to have to relive their ordeals again in court.”

In addition to his prison sentence, Clubb was banned from working or living with children and was placed on the sex offenders register for life, underscoring the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses. The victims expressed relief that the ordeal was over, with a statement saying, “We are relieved that it is all over and he will not be around children for some time.” This case serves as a stark reminder that justice can be delayed but not denied, and that the efforts of law enforcement continue to protect vulnerable individuals from predators like Adam Clubb.
