FIVE YEAR SENTENCE GIVEN TO MAN FOR GBH
On February 18, a man was sentenced to prison for grievous bodily harm after being convicted during an earlier trial.Adam Bromley, aged 43 and residing on Main Road in High Harrington, received a five-year prison term for causing grievous bodily harm with intent under section 18 in Carlisle Crown Court.
Additionally, he was subject to an indefinite restraining order.
Court proceedings revealed that on July 1, 2024, police responded to reports of Bromley's assault on a woman at her residence on Salterbeck Road, Workington.
The call came from an individual who, having spoken with the victim, could hear the assault taking place.
Bromley had already left the scene before police arrived but was later arrested at the property.
The victim sustained serious injuries, including a broken left wrist and a fractured right forearm.
Detective Constable Lisa Baker from Cumberland CID stated, “Bromley subjected the victim to a serious assault resulting in two breaks to her arms.
“The assault was also heard by someone close to the victim who quickly contacted police.
“Bromley had no remorse for his actions or the injuries he caused to the victim.
“It is understandably difficult for victims of abuse to talk about what happened to them; the victim rightly reached out to someone who reported the incident on her behalf.
“Any reports we receive will be taken seriously and will be dealt with professionally and sensitively.
“The Constabulary works closely with trusted partner agencies to provide the appropriate support which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.
“These offences will not be tolerated by Cumbria Constabulary, and we will do everything within our power to hold them accountable for their actions and bring them to justice.
“I would encourage anyone who has been victim to a domestic offence to contact police so that our officers can investigate.
You will be supported throughout our investigation.”
