ADAM BENTON FROM WALSALL SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR ABUSIVE SEXUAL ACTS ON VULNERABLE WOMAN IN WOLVERHAMPTON
A man from Walsall, Adam Benton, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activities with a vulnerable woman. The sentencing took place at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday, September 16, following Benton's admission of guilt to eight separate charges related to his inappropriate conduct. These charges spanned a period from June 2017 through September 2021, highlighting a prolonged pattern of abuse.Adam Benton, aged 50, was not only handed a 15-year prison sentence but also received a lifelong restraining order, prohibiting any contact with the victim or any other individuals involved. The court's decision underscores the severity of his actions and the commitment of the justice system to protect vulnerable members of society from such predatory behavior.
Nikki McMurray, a representative from the Adult Care Abuse Investigation Team, issued a statement emphasizing the gravity of the case. She stated, “Benton took advantage of a vulnerable woman for his own sexual gratification. We are pleased with the sentence which sends out a clear message that people who behave in this appalling way will be convicted and will spend many years behind bars.”
McMurray also expressed gratitude towards the victim, saying, “We are thankful to the brave woman who came forward and spoke to us. We hope her bravery encourages other people subjected to sexual abuse to come forward.”
