Chellaston Sexual Abuser
In April 2018, a man from Chellaston was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting three underage girls and openly admitting to having a sexual interest in minors. The case was heard at Derby Crown Court, where disturbing details of the offenses were revealed.
According to court proceedings, Aashique Ali, aged 39, engaged in inappropriate and sexual contact with one of his young victims at an address in Derby. The court heard that Ali pulled down her underwear and made lewd remarks while doing so, displaying a clear predatory behavior. Additionally, he lifted her top to examine her bare chest, kissed her neck, and touched her upper thigh, actions that caused significant distress and trauma to the victim.
Ali’s misconduct did not stop with this initial incident. He subsequently targeted two other young girls, pulling down their clothing from the waist down on separate occasions. One of these victims confided in her mother about what had happened, prompting her mother to contact the police authorities. The investigation led to the seizure of Ali’s mobile phone, which contained disturbing images of child abuse, further implicating him in these heinous acts.
Judge Peter Cooke sentenced Ali to a total of seven years and four months in prison. During the sentencing, the judge acknowledged Ali’s candor about his actions and his reasons for offending. However, he expressed concern over the fact that Ali’s sexual interest in underage girls only appeared to have developed recently, specifically in the year prior to the offenses. The judge remarked, “You have been commendably candid about not just what you did but why you did it. But one aspect I am struggling to accept, as is the author of your pre-sentence report, is that this prurient interest in underage girls only manifested itself last year. You moved from looking at pictures to doing something about it and that has been your downfall.”
Prosecutor Ian West confirmed that all the offenses occurred within the same year. He detailed that Ali, of Chestnut Avenue in Chellaston, had sexually touched his first victim, pulled down her clothing to view her naked chest, kissed her neck, and touched her thigh. The other two victims experienced similar assaults, with Ali pulling down their clothing so they were naked from the waist down on separate occasions.
One of the victims provided a statement indicating the profound impact the abuse had on her. She reported that her education has suffered as a result of the incidents, and she now finds it difficult to be around a male family friend who has done nothing wrong. The court also heard that Ali’s actions have caused lasting emotional damage.
In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Cooke imposed a lifelong sexual harm prevention order on Ali, restricting his behavior and contact to protect others from potential harm in the future. The case highlights the serious nature of the offenses committed by Ali in Chellaston and underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young girls from sexual exploitation and abuse.
