MAN APPEARS IN COURT ACCUSED OF RAPE AND STALKING
A man is charged with committing acts of rape and stalking a woman, including instances of waiting outside her residence and workplace.Aaron Edwards, aged 31, residing on Oatfield Close in Horsford, appeared before Norwich magistrates Court on Friday, February 18.
He faces one allegation of rape and one of stalking, both involving the same woman.
The accusations detail that he repeatedly reached out to the woman as well as her family and friends, and waited in places where he might encounter her.
During the hearing, his solicitor, Kieran Dunphy, stated: “He is a man of good character who has never appeared in court before.” Dunphy also mentioned that the defence plans to request an analysis of data from the woman’s phone, describing this as “going to be crucial to the case”.
The magistrates determined they did not have the jurisdiction to proceed further and referred the case to Norwich Crown Court.
They granted bail, with conditions including not entering a specific area of Norwich and abstaining from making contact, directly or indirectly, with the victim.
